St. Peter’s Italian Church Outreach Program: A Service to the Migrant and the Needy
St Peter’s-Scalabrini Outreach Program.
“I was a migrant and you welcomed me” (Mt. 25-35) this biblical expression of Jesus that has inspired for centuries many men and women to care for others. It is also the “word” that motivated Blessed John Baptist Scalabrini to care for the migrants. This biblical expression is also what motivated St. Peter’s Church staff to extend its service to the newcomers at our Parish.
Being part of Los Angeles inner city placesus in the midst of a reality of great mobility with people in need of shelter, food and clothing. Twice a year we celebrate Mass for migrants at the Daily Looker Center, located at the Home Depot (Figueroa and St. Fernando). At the present time we are feeding 200 people daily, providing clothes once a week and offering medical, moral, spiritual and social services to the neediest of our brothers and sisters who come to us. It is the generosity of many and to your generosity that we are able to continue our services. Thank you for your support.
